State of the studio

Change is in the air, a strange smell. Cory left the studio this week. Our administration seems to have one hand tied behind there back by corporate. Corporate does not want to pay or better yet compensate there employees. This is the reason (from my point of view) for our recent loss. We are under paid for a studio that makes triple A games that can't be done in eight hour days. Thanks corporate.

The start of our newly announced game has been a ruff one. Time is always a question but we now have more challenges of a new generation of hardware. That has been all accounted for by someone up the chain but this new hurtle is a personnel thing.

On the design side we have lost four leads including the director. This has people worried about the future of our studio, with good reason. How many more people will leave? Friends are the ones that leave, you can't make a game that takes up so much of your time and not care about your buddy in the trenches besides you. That makes it so much harder to get over a loss. But now we have to strive ahead, I have confidence in the combat and level design crews that we have. Art is still well stocked with some of the most talented people in the game. Programing is also filled with high caliber people along with Tech Art. But with Cory gone who will take his place? This is a big one. If its the wrong person the studio could bleed out, if they choose to direct by comity bad things will happen. This is a decision that must be made for the good of the studio I hope they choose wisely. We will see.

With that do we have enough time to make a great game without sacrificing our lives like we did on one and two? I don't know, but it is in my hope that we do, working with one of the most talent teams in the industry I think we can but at times I fear we can't.
